Zoox - Autonomous Vehicle INterface
This project was a UI/UX and branding design exercise for my Advanced Interface Design at Tufts in Spring 2022.
ZOOX is an autonomous vehicle service that offers autonomous taxi rides. ZOOX aims to equip each of its autonomous taxis with a touchscreen interface that provides information, entertainment, and safety options.
This design exercise was conducted in 3 parts, with a full report summarized below.

How might WE…
Create an interface that entertains and informs users during taxi rides?
Step 1:
Feature Assessment
Based on project specifications, market research, and ideation, I determined that users should be able to:
Access User Profiles and Customize their Settings
Input Navigation settings, including selecting and changing their destination
View a real-time Trip-Tracker
Watch videos and play games in the ZOOX Media Center
Control audio through the ZOOX Music Player
Customize internal temperature through the Climate Center
Integrate Phone Compatibility for music and navigation
Access Operational Instructions for the ZOOX vehicle
Access Live Video Chat Support in the event of emergencies
Use Google Voice Assistant to operate all functions handsfree
Step 2:
From Product Map…
To Low-Fidelity Frames
Step 3:
Moodboards
Ultimately I selected the Modern & Colorful style for a friendlier, brighter user experience.
The feedback I collected indicated that Dark & Sophisticated was too moody and serious.
Step 4:
Iteration
Initial
Final
I adjusted the color palette for two reasons. First, the initial color scheme and font too closely resembled an existing tech-giant’s brand identity.
Additionally, the initial color palette suffered from usability issues. The yellow and red did not have enough color contrast with white text for readability, and the distinction between the red and green was not large enough for colorblind users.
